Sun Cups - Gluten Free Ooey-Gooey Goodness Caramel Cups Milk Chocolate - 1.5 oz. (2cups/42g)
Sun Cups Gluten Free Ooey-Gooey Goodness Caramel Cups Milk Chocolate are delicious. When it comes to classics, the peanut butter cup falls somewhere between blue jeans and convertibles, delighting the masses for generations. Still, millions were unable to experience the confectionary legend. So they gave it a mouth-watering makeover, filling creamy all natural milk chocolate with roasted sunflower butter. Now, those with peanut allergies, gluten intolerance or just a persnickety sweet tooth can live the dream for themselves.
About Sun Cups
In 2008, a man knocked on the door at Seth Ellis Chocolates with a jar of sunflower butter and a challenge: create a candy cup his peanut-allergic son could eat. The chocolatiers got to work, inspired by the idea of a peanut butter cup for everyone. A jar of sunflower butter, a handful of test batches and a day later, they had cracked the code. Sun Cups were born.
Being a peanut butter cup for everyone is no small task. It calls for unseen levels of nut-free, gluten-free, Certified Kosher deliciousness. And being the overachievers they are, the chocolatiers also made their creation all natural, using cacao from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms. That means the chocolate in Sun Cups comes from farms that look out for their workers and the planet. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate Sun Cups debuted in 2009. And in 2011, they added Milk Chocolate Caramel Cups and Dark Chocolate Mint Cups to the lineup to spread the love to even more dessert-earners worldwide. Today, their Boulder chocolate factory is buzzing around the clock churning out chocolate safe for nut allergies.

Sun Cups' desire for nut-free and gluten-free food started at home. Among the three of them (Rick, David and Neil) they are either sensitive to gluten and nuts or have family members with allergies. To make sure they can eat everything they create, they have established a 100% nut- and gluten-free manufacturing shop, and their entire supply chain is completely nut- and gluten-free. The chocolate manufacturer who grinds and blends their chocolate doesn't allow any nuts in the same building as their chocolate. Their employees can't bring peanut butter sandwiches to work, and they have "inside shoes" so nothing gets tracked into the shop. (It keeps the floors cleaner, too!) They test for peanut allergens in their batches of incoming ingredients using lateral flow test kits. The seeds for their sunflower butter are grown in the upper Midwest, where it's too cold to support peanuts, so they can't volunteer in the fields.
